  2. past training sessions in Polar Flow
  3. Training data from third-party apps

+
-

I get double points for my training at the eGym circuit.

If you want to record strength training or circuit training on your Polar device during the eGym training session, this is also transmitted by the Polar to the eGym as a strength or circuit training. We are working on a solution for double pointing.

As a current solution, we recommend: Select the training sessions of Polar on the eGym Fitness App and click on "Edit". The training is now shown in the app, but is not used for point calculation.

+
-

Will my eGym training be transferred to Polar?

No, the transfer of training sessions done at the eGym machines or with a training plan are not sent to the Polar Flow app. We recommend that you record your workout with Polar and transfer it automatically to eGym. You do not have to enter any training manually into the eGym Fitness App.

+
-

Why are my activities or steps not transferred to eGym?

Currently the training and your body weight are transferred to eGym. Use the Polar Flow app to see your daily activities.

+
-

The activity "Other activity" is displayed at eGym.

If you have selected Other Outdoor or Other Indoor on your Polar device, then we cannot assign this training to any activity at eGym. Therefore, manually enter the activity into the eGym Fitness App. Select the appropriate sport profile for your next workout with your Polar device to automatically get points for the selected activity.

+
-

Profile, Friends & Fitness team

+
-

Why should I create an account with eGym?

Creating an account with eGym is not mandatory for training. However, by registering with eGym, you are able to connect with friends, to compare rankings in your fitness team, and to help yourself and the others on your team stay motivated. Your privacy is important to us at eGym, and your profile will never be visible in public search engines.

+
-

How can I add friends?

You can look at the list of friends and open friend requests under "My friends" in the "Profile" section. You can search for your friends by name (if they did not prohibit this function in their privacy settings). Once you have confirmed a friendship, you can look at your friend’s profiles and their documented workouts.

+
-

Can I search for people by body weight, age, etc?

No, the people search is limited to names. Furthermore, you can only search for users that allow this functionality in their privacy settings.

+
-

What is a fitness team and how does the ranking work?

The "Ranking" in the profile section enables you to compare yourself to your friends (your fitness team) and to other members of your gym.

The ranking is calculated from points earned from the documented workouts of the last 4 weeks. The amount of points you earn depend on the kinds of exercises, their difficulty and the duration of workouts.

+
-

Why do I have less points than before?

The ranking is calculated based on only the last 4 weeks. This way you cannot rest on past success – only recent workouts are considered!

+
-

How can I see my whole fitness team?

For your personal fitness team you can use the paging function to look at the whole team. On the other hand, for the fitness team of your studio, you can only see the 5 athletes above and below you.

Training planning and documentation

+
-

How can I plan my training?

If you are registered in a gym, ask your trainer to create a training plan for you. He/she can create training plan templates in the eGym Trainer App.

You can also create your own templates in the "Planning" section on the "Training" page of the eGym website. You can take advantage of the complete eGym exercise library to help you with your planning.

If you create a training template with a weekly planning frequency and with a start and end date, the template will show up in the "Documentation" page of the website so you always know what to aim for.

+
-

Where do I see my training results?

You can see your training results on the "Documentation" page of the website. Select a day in the time line to look at it in more detail or change your training on that day. Days that already have a training documented are marked with an orange circle.

+
-

How is my training recorded?

Your workouts at the eGym machines are automatically synchronized with your user account. Additionally, you can add and modify exercises and exercise templates on the page "Documentation" of the website. Documentation of training is also possible through the eGym Fitness App for Android and iPhone. Here you can tick off exercises as you do them.

+
-

I cannot find the exercise I am looking for. What to do?

We are working hard to keep the exercise library up to date. If you can’t find an exercise, please contact eGym customer support.

+
-

I worked out on an eGym machine and the training does not show up on the eGym website. How can that be?

If a training does not show up under "Documentation" for the respective day, the machine must have been offline. The machines do however save the data locally and sync it with the eGym cloud as soon as they are back online.

Analyses

+
-

Where does the data for analysis come from?

The analyses are calculated based on your documented training data. We recommend that you connect your equipment and devices with your eGym account to automatically synchronize data, and thus gain a more complete picture of your training.

If you are training in a gym, training data from the gym is also used for the analyses.

+
-

Can I look at the analyses of my friends?

No, analyses can only be viewed by the user and by gym trainers. Viewing other people’s analyses is not possible.

+
-

What are muscle balances and how can I view this analysis?

This analysis evaluates maximum strength of opposing muscle groups. You should aim at training each muscle pair equally to avoid muscle tension and joint strain. A good example of the damage that muscle imbalance can cause is the humpback which is caused by a muscular imbalance between abdominal and back muscles.

The analysis of muscle balances is available for eGym Premium members and is evaluated based on the maximum strength tests performed on the eGym machines.

+

The training method can only be changed at an eGym machine. After logging in at the machine, click the pen symbol and chose the desired training method. If you are an eGym Premium member, you can chose between the adaptive and isokinetic training methods in addition to the basic methods of regular and negative training. Furthermore, the parameters of each training method are adjusted automatically based on your training goal.

+
-

How do I tell if an eGym machine is online?

You can find an internet symbol in the upper right corner of the screen of an eGym machine. If the symbol is crossed out, the machine has lost it’s connection to the eGym server. In that case, you must check whether the internet connection in the studio still works. If an eGym machine is offline although the internet connection works, please contact eGym service.

The most used indoor (e.g. treadmill, spinning or yoga) and outdoor trainings (e.g. running, cycling, hiking) are transferred to eGym. The past training sessions are also transferred to eGym. The possible Fitbit activities are permanently adapted by eGym, so that more and more will be added.

Training sessions you cannot sync to eGym:

  1. training data from third-party apps
  2. activities that were created on fitbit.com.

+
-

How are training sessions displayed in eGym?

eGym currently shows the distance and time, if they are displayed at Fitbit. Activities that were automatically detected (Smarttrack™) do not contain any distance. I forgot to start my Fitbit before an activity. What do I have to do?

eGym receives the training sessions from Fitbit that you have entered into your Fitbit account. Manually entered training sessions are also transferred to eGym, as long as they are supported by Fitbit. If you forget to record your training, simply enter the training manually in the Fitbit app. The training is then transferred to eGym. However, training sessions modified at Fitbit are not transferred to eGym. As well, changes at eGym are not transferred to Fitbit.

+
-

My training has not been transferred to eGym.

Please check your settings for eGym. "Activities and training" must be enabled for eGym. If you are not sure if you have shared activities for eGym, then disconnect your Fitbit account and reconnect it with your eGym account.

If you only start a training on your Fitbit and synchronize with your app, it will only be displayed as "Training" in the Fitbit app. You have to directly classify the training, otherwise we can unfortunately not assign the training. If the training is not displayed in the eGym Fitness app, we recommend that you enter the training again with Fitbit. Now it should appear on the eGym Fitness App.

If a training is not displayed at eGym, write an eMail to the eGym customer service with a screenshot of the training session (date, time, duration and distance must be visible).
